In a shocking incident that has stunned Patna, a man brutally stabbed his wife to death on the festive day of Eid, turning celebrations into mourning. The crime unfolded in the Alamganj police station area near Pirbais Market, where domestic tensions boiled over into a fatal attack.
The victim, 24-year-old Zeba Parveen, lived with her husband Mohammad Sonu in a rented house. On Saturday evening, what began as a heated argument escalated rapidly. Enraged, Sonu grabbed a sharp knife and repeatedly stabbed Zeba in the stomach, neck, and hands. She collapsed in a pool of blood inside their home, her life ebbing away as neighbors rushed to the scene.
It was Zeba’s four-year-old son who first raised the alarm. Traumatized, the child ran to his aunt’s nearby house, screaming about the attack. Family members and locals arrived to find the gruesome scene and hurriedly took Zeba to Nalanda Medical College and Hospital (NMCH). Despite desperate efforts by doctors, her injuries proved too severe, and she was declared dead during treatment.
Police swiftly responded, securing the crime scene and sending Zeba’s body for postmortem. Alamganj police are scouring CCTV footage from the vicinity to track the fleeing husband. The murder weapon is still under search, but authorities are confident of an imminent arrest. The couple had been married for four years, and this tragedy has left their young son orphaned in the most horrific circumstances.
This Eid, instead of joy, the Pirbais Market community grapples with grief and outrage. Questions swirl about the root of their domestic discord, but one thing is clear: a family’s festive dreams shattered in seconds, highlighting the urgent need for intervention in rising domestic violence cases.
