In the Meghalaya honeymoon murder case, Sonam Raghuvanshi and Raj Kushwaha have been remanded to 13 days of judicial custody by a district and sessions court in Shillong. The Superintendent of Police of East Khasi Hills district confirmed this development. The court granted the custody as the police did not seek an extension. The other accused, including Akash Rajput, Vishal Singh Chauhan, and Anand, were previously remanded to 14-day judicial custody. The arrests were made following the murder of Raja Raghuvanshi, who was on his honeymoon in Meghalaya. His body was discovered in a gorge near Sohra (Cherrapunji) on June 2. The couple, hailing from Indore, Madhya Pradesh, had gone missing during their honeymoon. The police’s Special Investigation Team reconstructed the crime scene to understand the sequence of events. SP Vivek Syiem stated that the reconstruction provided clarity. The police are still attempting to recover a machete used in the crime. The reconstruction involved the re-enactment of the crime, including the positions of the accused and the victim. It was also revealed that Sonam and Vishal damaged the victim’s phone. The victim was first hit by Vishal, and then the body was thrown down.
