Patna, Bihar: In a major push to bolster its grassroots presence, the Hinduustani Awam Morcha (HAM) has kicked off a massive membership campaign across Bihar, with an ambitious goal of enrolling 50 lakh new members throughout India. The initiative, flagged off by party chief Jitan Ram Manjhi, signals HAM’s intent to expand its influence beyond its traditional strongholds in the state.

The campaign’s launch comes at a time when Bihar’s political landscape is heating up ahead of upcoming elections. HAM, a key ally in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), aims to tap into the aspirations of marginalized communities, particularly Dalits and Extremely Backward Classes (EBCs), who form the core of its support base. Party leaders are deploying booth-level workers to every village and urban ward, armed with membership forms and promises of development-focused governance.

Jitan Ram Manjhi, addressing a large gathering in Patna, emphasized that the drive is not just about numbers but building a cadre committed to ‘Awam Ka Samman’ – respect for the common people. ‘We want 50 lakh voices that echo the pain of the forgotten masses,’ he declared, outlining plans for digital enrollment alongside traditional door-to-door outreach.

Strategically, the membership push coincides with internal NDA discussions on seat-sharing. HAM eyes consolidation in Bihar’s 243 assembly seats while eyeing opportunities in neighboring states. The party has set monthly targets, with Bihar expected to contribute a significant chunk of the 50 lakh figure.

Challenges abound, however. Rival parties like RJD and Congress are ramping up their own outreach, while voter fatigue from frequent polls looms large. Yet, HAM’s focus on welfare schemes and anti-corruption rhetoric could resonate. As the campaign unfolds, all eyes are on whether Manjhi’s Morcha can translate numbers into electoral muscle.

Early reports indicate enthusiastic response in districts like Gaya, Jehanabad, and Munger – Manjhi’s home turf. With state-of-the-art apps for tracking progress, HAM is blending old-school politics with modern tech. Political analysts predict this could reshape Bihar’s alliance dynamics, positioning HAM as a pivotal player in the NDA’s Bihar strategy.
