In a significant legal victory for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), a Delhi court has acquitted former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia in the high-profile Delhi Excise Policy case. The Rouse Avenue Court’s decision has sent ripples through the political landscape, with former cricketer and Rajya Sabha MP Harbhajan Singh voicing his support on social media.

Harbhajan, a prominent AAP sympathizer, shared a photo of Kejriwal and Sisodia standing with folded hands. Captioning it simply with ‘Satyamev Jayate’ – Truth Alone Triumphs – he celebrated the verdict as a vindication of their innocence. This post quickly garnered attention, underscoring the emotional resonance of the court’s ruling among AAP supporters.

AAP Punjab MLA and spokesperson Kuldeep Dhaliwal echoed these sentiments, labeling the case a ‘deep political conspiracy’ orchestrated by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to dismantle the AAP. ‘The BJP, along with other parties, ran a relentless smear campaign to tarnish our leaders’ image and destroy the party,’ Dhaliwal stated. He added that the lies have crumbled like a house of cards, emphasizing that truth cannot be suppressed indefinitely.

Dhaliwal accused the BJP of misusing central agencies to incarcerate AAP’s senior leadership, but the court’s decision proves their strategy failed. Meanwhile, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has challenged the acquittal in the Delhi High Court through a criminal revision petition, contesting the trial court’s detailed order.

The court had previously refused to frame charges in the corruption case, ruling that the prosecution failed to establish even a prima facie case warranting a trial. This acquittal covers 23 accused, including Kejriwal and Sisodia, marking a major setback for the investigative agency.

As the legal battle continues in higher courts, the verdict has boosted AAP’s morale ahead of upcoming elections. Harbhajan Singh’s endorsement highlights the intersection of sports, politics, and justice in India’s dynamic public sphere, reinforcing the age-old mantra that truth ultimately prevails.
