The revised Goods and Services Tax (GST) rates, implemented on September 22, triggered the “GST Bachat Utsav,” coinciding with the Navratri festival. The new rates of 5% and 18% have been welcomed by many. Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his greetings, emphasizing the potential for a self-reliant India. Consumers across the country are already experiencing positive changes. Alok Kumar Shrivastav from Ayodhya said that the reduced GST slabs would benefit the poor and middle class, particularly in the purchase of milk products and automobiles. Narsingh Pathak also highlighted the positive impact on the automobile sector, potentially saving up to Rs 80,000 on small cars. In Delhi, Ravi Shankar Kumar noted the benefits for middle-class families due to reduced prices of dairy products. A shopkeeper named Naved, welcomed the government’s initiative. Farmers are also seeing advantages from the new GST rates. A farmer from Aligarh praised the relief brought to farmers. Another farmer from Aligarh, explained that the reforms would benefit the farmers, with reduced costs for pump installations and DAP bags.
