In a dramatic late-night encounter in Greater Noida’s Rabupura area, police engaged in a fierce shootout with a gang of criminals on Friday. Two suspects sustained gunshot wounds during the exchange of fire, while three others were apprehended after a tense chase.
The incident unfolded around midnight when a police patrol spotted a suspicious auto-rickshaw near Ronija Kat. As officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver accelerated, prompting a pursuit. The fleeing gang opened fire on the police, forcing a retaliatory response that left Syed Amin, 35, from Shahin Bagh, New Delhi, and Goramiya, 32, from Chandni Mode, Nuh, injured.
Recovered from the scene were two illegal .315 bore pistols, two spent cartridges, and two live rounds. The three arrested accomplices—Munsar Kamaal, 24, Bilal, 23, both from Nuh, and Pushpendra Kumar, 24, from Madanpur Khadar, Delhi—were nabbed on the spot. Authorities seized the auto along with cow slaughter tools: two knives, four syringes, four injection vials, two saws, iron rods, and four empty bags.
The injured duo was rushed to a hospital for treatment. All five were wanted in a case under the Uttar Pradesh Cow Slaughter Prevention Act, 1955. Investigators are now probing their criminal backgrounds to uncover potential links to larger networks.
This operation underscores Greater Noida police’s commitment to curbing illegal activities, particularly those threatening cultural and legal norms. Local residents have praised the swift action, hoping it deters similar crimes in the region.
