Greater Noida buzzed with excitement on Thursday as the grand flower exhibition kicked off at Samrat Mihir Bhoj Park, also known as City Park. Member of Parliament from Gautam Buddh Nagar, Dr. Mahesh Sharma, inaugurated the event as the chief guest, emphasizing the profound role flowers play in human life.
“Flowers are nature’s greatest gift to humanity,” Dr. Sharma declared, highlighting the inseparable bond between nature and mankind. He elaborated on India’s rich cultural traditions where flowers adorn every milestone—from births and celebrations to rites of passage and farewells—infusing life with color and fragrance.
Organized by the Greater Noida Authority, the four-day extravaganza runs until March 1, with free entry and parking to encourage families and friends to immerse themselves in the floral splendor. The event promises a feast for the senses, blending artistry, culture, and community spirit.
Joining Dr. Sharma were BJP district president Abhishek Sharma, in-charge Pramod Gupta, Authority CEO NG Ravi Kumar, ACEO Saumya Shrivastava, and other dignitaries. Dr. Sharma praised the Authority’s transformation under CEO Ravi Kumar, noting how it has shed its debt burden to fuel rapid development.
The evening unfolded with a ceremonial lamp lighting, followed by schoolchildren’s devotional rendition to Goddess Saraswati, setting a spiritual tone. A highlight was the inaugural drone show, captivating audiences as drones formed India’s map, the Ayodhya temple, and an image of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in the night sky.
At the heart of the exhibition is the stunning ‘Operation Sindoor’ floral installation, alongside creative displays like a tiger sculpted from flowers, a heart-shaped structure from Shimla chillies, and the national bird peacock. Visitors thronged these attractions, snapping photos and marveling at the craftsmanship.
Stalls offering plants, decorative items, and culinary delights added to the vibrancy. This floral festival not only celebrates nature’s beauty but also reinforces Greater Noyed’s identity as a culturally vibrant urban hub, fostering community bonds and pride.
