In a significant breakthrough, police in Greater Noida have arrested two key accused in a heartbreaking case of abetment to suicide involving a BTech student. The arrests were made by the Knowledge Park police station team following precise intelligence inputs, targeting individuals who had been evading capture for weeks.

The suspects, Sudhanshu alias Shekhar Dubey and Rohit Bhati, both employed as wardens at a boys’ hostel in Knowledge Park-3, were apprehended near the IIMT crossing on Wednesday. This incident stems from the tragic death of Udit Soni, a second-year BTech student from Bhognipur, Jhansi, who took his own life in the hostel late on January 23-24.

According to authorities, Udit faced relentless mental harassment from the hostel wardens, pushing him to this extreme step. Family complaints led to an FIR, and two other wardens, Satyanarayan Pandey and Dharam Singh Sikarwar, were nabbed earlier on January 25. The latest arrests complete the circle of primary suspects.

Sudhanshu, originally from Muzaffarpur, Buxar in Bihar, and Rohit from Kamarala Chakrasenpur village under Dadri police station, both around 35 years old, resided in the same hostel. Interrogations revealed a pattern of alleged torture that shattered the young student’s spirit.

Police have presented the duo in court, with further legal proceedings underway. Officials emphasize zero tolerance for such negligence in student accommodations, vowing stricter oversight to prevent future tragedies. This case underscores the urgent need for better mental health support and accountability in educational hostels across India.
