Lucknow witnessed a significant upgrade in healthcare infrastructure on Tuesday as Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandi Ben Patel laid the foundation stone for the Patient Relative Accommodation (PRA) building at Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences. This new facility promises much-needed relief for families of patients traveling from distant regions.
In a comprehensive inauguration ceremony, the Governor also unveiled state-of-the-art CT scan, ultrasound, and X-ray services at the institute’s Radiology Diagnostic Block. During her inspection, Patel delved into the details of these advanced amenities, emphasizing their role in enhancing diagnostic capabilities.
Addressing the gathering, the Governor highlighted the PRA building’s importance for underprivileged families. ‘This accommodation will be invaluable for relatives of patients from far-off areas,’ she stated, directing officials to establish transparent rules prioritizing poor and middle-class families. She stressed the need for impeccable cleanliness, insisting that rooms be returned in the same pristine condition they were received.
Patel issued firm instructions to regulate external food entries in the hospital premises and enforce strict adherence to prescribed diets. ‘Hygiene, discipline, and rule compliance will accelerate patient recovery,’ she asserted. In a forward-thinking suggestion, she proposed establishing a ‘Garbh Sanskar’ center to guide pregnant women on nutrition, behavior, and environment, noting their direct impact on fetal development.
Extending Holi greetings, the Governor cautioned against chemical colors, advocating natural alternatives to avoid health risks. Institute Director Prof. (Dr.) C.M. Singh presented jaggery from Jan Bhawan Gaushala as a token of appreciation. Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak praised the developments as pivotal steps toward strengthening Uttar Pradesh’s health services, lauding the institute’s national reputation in medical care, research, and patient service.
