A BITS Pilani student was found dead in his hostel room in Goa on Thursday, prompting a police investigation. The student, Rishi Nair, was discovered on his bed, and authorities had to force entry into his room. This incident is the fifth in a string of student deaths at the institution since December 2024. Earlier incidents involved students Om Priyan Singh, Krishna Kasera, Kushagra Jain, and Atharv Desai. The university is yet to issue an official statement. Goa’s Chief Minister, Pramod Sawant, has intervened, instructing the formation of a committee headed by the collector to probe these deaths. The exact cause of the latest death is under investigation.
