Gaya’s IMC: A ₹1339 Crore Project to Boost Bihar’s Industrial Growth

The Integrated Manufacturing Cluster (IMC) in Gaya, under the Amritsar Kolkata Industrial Corridor (AKIC), is being developed as Bihar’s largest industrial township. The project, encompassing 1670 acres in Gaya district’s Dobhi block, has a budget of ₹1339 crore, with land costs accounting for ₹462.14 crore. Upon completion, the project is expected to draw substantial manufacturing investments, generate many employment opportunities, and significantly boost regional development. The state government has already acquired the necessary land for the project. The Chief Secretary has set a deadline of March 2026 for selecting the project agency. The EPC tender for the industrial township will be launched in July 2025, in coordination with the National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (NICDC). The IMC in Gaya is a key part of the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme. The focused sectors include agro and food processing, ready-made garments, and various technical industries. The project aims to attract ₹16,524 crore in investments and create over 109,000 jobs. The CCEA approved the project in August 2024, and environmental clearance was granted in March 2025. The state government has also approved a 7 km green field alignment connecting the site with the Golden Quadrilateral. Moreover, the state has introduced several policy reforms to ease business operations. The presence of UNESCO World Heritage sites in Gaya, coupled with the availability of skilled manpower and educational institutions, will create an ideal setting for industrial units.
