In a landmark victory for justice in Jammu and Kashmir, the Ganderbal police have ensured a 20-year rigorous imprisonment sentence for a man convicted of raping a minor girl under the POCSO Act. The special court in Ganderbal delivered this stern verdict on Monday, also imposing a hefty fine of Rs 50,000 on the accused.

The conviction came after meticulous investigation and prosecution efforts. Identified as Rauuf Ahmad Ganaie, son of Bashir Ahmad Ganaie from Takia Khalmulla Nagbal, Ganderbal, the offender was held guilty under Sections 3/4 of the POCSO Act by the Principal Sessions Judge. This ruling underscores the court’s commitment to protecting vulnerable children from heinous crimes.

The prosecution built an ironclad case with compelling evidence, led by Public Prosecutor Shafat Ahmad Bhat and advocate Jahangir Rafiqi. Their persuasive arguments in court played a pivotal role in securing the conviction. Meanwhile, Sub-Inspector Mohammad Akbar’s thorough probe laid the foundation for this success, demonstrating professional policing at its finest.

Ganderbal police hailed the judgment as a major achievement on social media platform X, reaffirming their dedication to safeguarding society’s most sensitive sections, especially children. ‘We remain fully committed to delivering the strictest punishments to perpetrators of such grave offenses,’ the force stated.

This case serves as a powerful deterrent against child sexual abuse in the region. It highlights the effective synergy between law enforcement, prosecution, and judiciary in delivering swift justice. As Jammu and Kashmir continues to grapple with such crimes, successes like this boost public confidence in the system and send a clear message: no offender will escape the law’s long arm.

Authorities urge parents and guardians to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately. The fight against child exploitation demands collective vigilance, and Ganderbal police’s resolve exemplifies the path forward.
