In a brazen daylight robbery, four unidentified miscreants on two motorcycles waylaid a cash collection agent on Delhi’s main Wazirabad Road late Friday evening, snatching a bag full of money before speeding away. The incident, which unfolded near an Axis Bank ATM in the Khajuri Khas area of northeast Delhi, has sent shockwaves through the local community.

The victim, 27-year-old Avinash, works as a collection agent for a scrap dealer in Old Seelampur and Chandni Chowk. He was riding his scooter, carrying the day’s collections in cash, when the robbers struck. According to his complaint, the assailants suddenly surrounded him, threatened him at gunpoint—or with sharp weapons—and grabbed the bag before fleeing the scene.

Local residents were stunned by the audacity of the crime. Eyewitnesses reported hearing shouts and seeing the bikes zoom off towards unknown directions. Within minutes, a police team from Khajuri Khas station rushed to the spot, securing the area and initiating a thorough investigation.

Forensic experts combed the site for clues, while officers began reviewing footage from nearby CCTV cameras. The police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for robbery and provisions of the Arms Act, suspecting the robbers might have been armed.

Senior officers have formed special teams to track down the culprits. ‘We have some leads from local inquiries and bike descriptions provided by witnesses,’ a police spokesperson said. ‘Technical surveillance and CCTV analysis will help us identify and apprehend them soon.’

This robbery highlights growing concerns over street crimes in Delhi’s outskirts, where cash handlers become easy targets. Authorities urge the public to stay vigilant and report suspicious activities. The investigation continues, with hopes of swift justice for the victim and enhanced security measures in high-risk zones.
