Heavy rainfall has significantly impacted Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, prompting alerts and safety measures from local authorities. Rising water levels in the Chenab River have prompted warnings for residents, especially in the Doda district, to avoid the riverbanks. Authorities are investigating potential fatalities in Doda, connected to the swollen river. The overflow at the Baglihar and Salal dams has necessitated the opening of their gates to release excess water, mitigating downstream flooding risks. In the Kargil district of Ladakh, a flash flood and landslide occurred in the Stakpa area; fortunately, there were no major injuries or substantial damages reported. The Meteorological Department has predicted continued rainfall across the Jammu division for the coming 24 hours, with warnings issued to the public to exercise caution around water bodies. In Srinagar, the Soura area has been hit hard, with water damage affecting homes, particularly ground floors, creating hardship for residents.
