The recent floods in Punjab have resulted in widespread devastation, prompting CM Bhagwant Mann to announce a comprehensive compensation scheme. The floods severely impacted farmers, damaging crops and causing significant hardship. Mann convened meetings with district officials to assess the ground situation. The compensation package includes ₹20,000 per acre for damaged crops and ₹40,000 for damaged homes. Furthermore, compensation is available for lost livestock, with additional support based on the number of animals lost. Mann stated that the aim is to complete the compensation distribution by Diwali. He also highlighted the deaths due to the floods, and that the families of the deceased are receiving compensation. He emphasized that any form of corruption or fraudulent activity concerning compensation will not be tolerated, and that he would prioritize the welfare of the flood-affected population.
