Five Pakistani Fighter Jets and a Large Aircraft Downed in Operation Sindoor, Says IAF Chief

During a speech, Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh, the head of the Indian Air Force, disclosed that Operation Sindoor saw the destruction of five Pakistani fighter jets, along with one large aircraft. Speaking at the HAL Management Auditorium, he described how the operation targeted the Shahbaz Jacobabad Airfield, a major airfield. An F-16 hangar was hit, resulting in significant damage and the potential harm to the aircraft within. The Air Chief Marshal confirmed that the jets were shot down using the S-400 air defense systems. He stated that there were confirmed kills of at least five fighters and one large aircraft, which could be an ELINT or AEW&C aircraft, intercepted at a distance of approximately 300 kilometers. Further, the operation successfully targeted command and control centers, multiple radars, and various hangars. Singh also spoke about the challenges in providing evidence to demonstrate the damage inflicted upon terrorist organizations. He discussed the issues that arose following the Balakot airstrikes, where a lack of definitive visual evidence made it difficult to convey the achievements. However, he noted that videos from Operation Sindoor are available, offering proof of the outcomes. Singh asserted that the primary aim of Operation Sindoor was to deter terrorists, and upon achieving this, India sought to end the conflict.
