FIR lodged towards TMC MP Mahua Moitra in Assam for ‘Gogoi’ tweet

GUWAHATI: An FIR has been filed towards Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra in Assam for ‘insulting the emotions of the Assamese folks.

The police criticism used to be lodged through Jatiya Sangrami Sena, Asom, in Sivsagar district on Friday, challenging unconditional apology from Moitra for bearing on the ‘Gogoi’ surname to sexual harassment in a tweet.

Within the FIR, Pranab Chetia, President of the organisation’s Sivasagar unit, wrote: “It’s been noticed that her (Moitra’s) Twitter remark is intentionally changing the phrase sexual harassment with the phrase Mr. Gogoi, which is a transparent purpose to defame and fail to remember a longtime ethnic neighborhood of Assam, and therefore I beg the legislation of the land to offer protection to the sanctity, integrity and appreciate of the Ahom neighborhood and convey Mohua Moitra to justice.”

The Trinamool Lok Sabha MP sparked a row when she posted on her Twitter care for: “My first of latest Twitter sequence on replacements for unparliamentary phrases. Banned phrase – Sexual Harassment Substitute – Mr. Gogoi.”
