A concerning trend has emerged where honey-trap gangs are specifically targeting male senior citizens for extortion. The modus operandi often begins with a seemingly innocent missed call. The victim is then befriended by women and eventually lured into a compromising situation. This is followed by demands for money, with threats of false accusations. A victim in Gurugram, a wealthy man over 60, experienced this firsthand. His daughter helped him file a police report, providing evidence in the form of call recordings, which led to the arrest of three individuals on charges of extortion and cheating. Authorities recommend that potential victims record conversations and gather evidence to support their claims. The initial demand was lowered to Rs 6.5 lakhs.
