In a shocking display of brutality in Madhya Pradesh’s Rewa district, a 60-year-old man named Laxman Prajapati was tied with a towel to the back of a scooter and dragged several meters along a village road. The horrifying incident unfolded on Saturday evening around 4:30 PM in Semariya village when Prajapati, riding his bicycle, refused to hand over money demanded by three assailants.

Eyewitness accounts and a viral video circulating on social media captured the elderly man’s desperate struggle as he was mercilessly dragged, his body scraping against the rough asphalt. The footage, which spread like wildfire by Sunday morning, has ignited public outrage, highlighting the brazen cruelty in broad daylight.

Prajapati is currently receiving critical care at Rewa’s Sanjay Gandhi Hospital, where doctors report severe injuries including deep lacerations and possible fractures. ‘His condition remains serious; he’s sustained extensive trauma to his back and limbs,’ a medical official stated.

Local police swiftly responded, arresting one suspect identified as Kunnu Saket. Two others remain at large, with intensified search operations underway. Investigating officer Vikas Kapish confirmed the motive appears to be a failed robbery attempt. ‘The victim was stopped and demanded money. When he resisted, they resorted to this extreme violence,’ Kapish told reporters.

The attack prompted furious relatives and villagers to block the Rewa-Semariya road, demanding immediate justice. ‘These thugs terrorize us daily, and police do nothing,’ one protester shouted amid the chaos. Senior officials arrived promptly, pacifying the crowd with assurances of swift action against all perpetrators.

This incident underscores the rising concerns over roadside robberies in rural Madhya Pradesh, where vulnerable citizens face escalating threats. Authorities have vowed to invoke stringent laws, including attempt to murder charges, to ensure the guilty face the full wrath of justice. As Prajapati fights for recovery, the community watches closely for accountability.
