CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu BJP spokesperson ANS Prasad has hit back at the ruling DMK, claiming the party is gripped by political panic following a massive NDA rally in Madurantakam. Prasad defended AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami against attacks from DMK leaders, who repeatedly labeled him a ‘slave’ of the BJP.
Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin and DMK MP Kanimozhi have been vocal in their criticism, but Prasad dismissed their rhetoric as a sign of DMK’s desperation ahead of the 2026 assembly elections. ‘The Madurantakam rally sent shockwaves across Tamil Nadu, signaling a clear shift in public sentiment,’ he asserted.
The huge turnout at the event has evidently rattled DMK leadership, particularly Chief Minister MK Stalin and his family, who are growing anxious about losing ground. Prasad highlighted how the NDA, under the coordination of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, has emerged as a united and disciplined force in the state.
Palaniswami and Tamil Nadu BJP president Nainar Nagendran have been touring extensively, exposing DMK’s alleged corruption, governance failures, and unfulfilled promises. Prasad sharply criticized Udhayanidhi’s remarks questioning PM Modi’s outreach to women voters, calling them irresponsible and misleading.
He emphasized that central government schemes have benefited millions of families in Tamil Nadu. The presence of PM Modi alongside Palaniswami symbolizes the ‘double-engine’ governance model that the NDA plans to pitch to voters in 2026, promising development, stability, and transparent administration.
The BJP accused DMK of resorting to personal attacks to divert attention from public discontent over inflation, law and order issues, and corruption. Prasad concluded with confidence that the NDA will secure a clear majority in 2026 and form the next government in Tamil Nadu.
