In a significant move towards transforming Rajasthan into a developed state, Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Diya Kumari presented the 2026-27 budget in the state assembly on Wednesday. This marks her third budget for the desert state, emphasizing a robust foundation for future growth.
The budget speech highlighted key priorities including strong foundational development, education, healthcare, infrastructure, employment generation, boosting farmers’ incomes, self-reliance, and a strengthened economy. Kumari underscored that every allocation is designed to lay the groundwork for ‘Viksit Rajasthan’.
Speaking exclusively to reporters, the royal scion turned politician elaborated, ‘We’ve consistently delivered strong budgets, always prioritizing the most critical needs. Strengthening the foundation is paramount, and all our announcements align with this goal. Our 10 pillars of development form the core, with detailed discussions and new initiatives introduced this time.’
She stressed the necessity of immediate action: superior school education for children, accessible healthcare, world-class infrastructure, job opportunities, concrete steps for farmers’ income growth, and economic fortification. ‘Without these from now, Rajasthan cannot achieve development. We aim for self-reliance and a robust economy,’ she affirmed.
Infrastructure received enhanced funding, surpassing previous allocations, alongside substantial support for the green budget. Drawing parallels to the central government’s three duties, Kumari highlighted their 10 development pillars.
