Patna, January 23: Bihar Minister Dilip Jaiswal paid glowing tribute to former Chief Minister and Bharat Ratna recipient Karpoori Thakur on the eve of his birth anniversary. Speaking at a seminar organized by the Social Justice Struggle Front and the National Nai Mahasabha on the NDA’s role in the development of extremely backward classes, Jaiswal highlighted Thakur’s enduring legacy of humility, principles, and selfless public service.
‘Karpoori Thakur will always be remembered for his simplicity, unwavering principles, and dedication to public service,’ Jaiswal declared. He described Thakur’s life as wholly devoted to social justice and uplifting the marginalized. Thakur’s contributions to building a harmonious and inclusive society continue to inspire generations.
Jaiswal painted a vivid picture of Thakur’s extraordinary humility. Despite serving twice as Chief Minister and once as Deputy Chief Minister, Thakur lived an astonishingly simple life. At the time of his death, he owned no house and had no money in his bank account. ‘This is a profound lesson for today’s leaders,’ Jaiswal emphasized. ‘While most of us prioritize our families and personal gains first, Thakur tirelessly worked to bring the last person in line into the mainstream.’
The minister underscored Thakur’s impeccable integrity and relevance today. He never misused power for his family’s benefit, treating politics as service rather than a means for personal gain. Thakur laid the foundation for reservation policies for the most backward classes, a pioneering step in social equity.
Extending Basant Panchami greetings, Jaiswal invoked the blessings of Goddess Saraswati, the deity of knowledge, wisdom, and culture. He assured that the NDA government remains committed to empowering education, spreading knowledge, and nurturing cultural values. ‘May Maa Saraswati illuminate students, teachers, and society with knowledge and discernment,’ he prayed.
