Even before the first rays of dawn, the Gorakhnath Temple in Gorakhpur turned into a sea of faith. Thousands of devotees lined up in long queues, braving the early morning chill, all eager to offer prayers ahead of the auspicious Khichdi festival. This annual event, deeply rooted in Nath tradition, draws lakhs from across Uttar Pradesh and neighboring states.

The temple premises echoed with chants of ‘Gorakh Nath Baba Ki Jai’ as families, young and old, arrived with offerings of flowers, sweets, and coins. Priests performed special aartis, blessing the crowds who believe the saint’s grace brings prosperity and health. Volunteers worked tirelessly to manage the flow, distributing prasad and ensuring smooth darshan.

Local authorities ramped up security and traffic arrangements, anticipating the massive influx. ‘We’ve never seen such devotion so early; it’s a testament to Baba’s pull,’ said a senior temple official. Eyewitnesses reported queues stretching over a kilometer by 5 AM, with women and children given priority.

As the Khichdi festival officially kicks off tomorrow, preparations are in full swing. Giant cauldrons are ready to cook the sacred khichdi, symbolizing equality and nourishment. This festival commemorates Guru Gorakhnath’s teachings on simplicity and devotion. Devotees share stories of miracles, from cured ailments to fulfilled wishes, fueling the frenzy.

The event not only strengthens communal bonds but also boosts local economy with vendors selling religious items and street food. With weather forecasts predicting clear skies, expectations are high for record attendance. Gorakhpur’s spiritual fervor sets the tone for a blessed festival season.
