The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has accused the BJP government in Delhi of orchestrating the decline of the city’s healthcare system to privatize it. AAP leaders have also accused Chief Minister Rekha Gupta of consistently misleading the public. Saurabh Bharadwaj, the Delhi state president of AAP, addressed the press and expressed concern over the current state of government hospitals in Delhi under the BJP’s rule.
Bharadwaj pointed out that the previous AAP government provided free medicines and tests, and also ensured access to private facilities for advanced procedures. However, he alleged that the current BJP government is causing shortages of medicines, tests, and surgeries in government hospitals and the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital to facilitate privatization.
He emphasized that the healthcare services are deteriorating, resulting in a decline in patients seeking treatment in Delhi. He suggested that the government is intentionally creating such a situation to enable privatization, and he highlighted the persistent shortage of medicines in Delhi.
Bharadwaj also mentioned budget cuts in certain healthcare programs. He also touched upon the challenges regarding the procurement of medicines and the impact on the ‘Farista Scheme’.
On the subject of reducing the drinking age, Bharadwaj criticized the BJP’s policies in other states, and accused the Chief Minister of making false statements. He questioned how the BJP would tackle the problem of pollution in the Yamuna River.
