Delhi is currently battling a severe smog situation, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) reaching alarming levels. On Sunday morning, the AQI was recorded at 385, classifying it as ‘very poor’. This thick smog reduced visibility significantly, with iconic sites like India Gate disappearing behind the haze. Morning walkers and joggers faced challenging conditions due to the poor air quality.

The situation is particularly dire in areas like Rajghat and ITO, which reported an AQI of 417, placing them in the ‘severe’ pollution category. Other affected zones include Anand Vihar, Alipur, and Ashok Vihar, with AQI readings between 400 and 415. Chandani Chowk and Dwarka recorded AQI levels of 420 and 378 respectively.

Compounding the pollution woes, Delhi is experiencing a dip in temperatures, with the minimum expected to be between 9 to 11 degrees Celsius. Yesterday’s minimum temperature was 9.7 degrees Celsius. The IMD has also alerted citizens across various states about impending cold wave conditions and heavy rainfall in specific regions, highlighting a mixed weather pattern across India.
