New Delhi’s law enforcement has struck again, arresting a notorious mobile phone snatcher in the Mohan Garden area. The swift action by Delhi Police not only led to the culprit’s capture but also the recovery of the stolen device, bringing relief to the victim and restoring faith in local policing.

The incident unfolded on the night of February 23-24 when a PCR call alerted Mohan Garden police about a brazen mobile snatch. Assistant Sub-Inspector Murali Singh took charge, rushing to the scene with his team to kick off a meticulous investigation.

The complainant, 19-year-old Abhijeet from Gurudwara Road, recounted how two bike-borne men accosted him near Metro Pillar 749 on the main Najafgarh-Uttam Nagar Road. They snatched his phone and sped off towards Uttam Nagar. A case was promptly registered at Uttam Nagar police station, setting the stage for an intensive probe.

Under ASI Murali Singh’s leadership, a dedicated team comprising HC Jitendra, HC Rakesh, and HC Dharmendra scoured over 150 CCTV cameras across Mohan Garden, Dabri, Uttam Nagar, Bindapur, and Dwarka North. Inspector Mukesh Antil supervised the operation, with guidance from Prakash Kumar Singh.

Raids based on secret tip-offs culminated in the arrest of 21-year-old Nagesh from Dabri. The stolen phone was recovered from his possession. During interrogation, Nagesh confessed to the crime alongside his accomplice Jafar alias Sahil. He also admitted to a prior snatching incident and revealed his involvement in multiple cases.

Police continue their investigation, hunting for the second suspect and uncovering more links to Nagesh’s criminal past. This arrest underscores Delhi Police’s commitment to curbing street crimes through technology and intelligence.
