In a high-stakes operation late Saturday night, Delhi’s South East district police struck a major blow against street crime. The Anti Auto Theft Squad (AATS) and Pul Prahladpur police station teamed up for a joint raid on MB Road, leading to a dramatic confrontation with a notorious mobile snatcher.

The suspect, identified as 22-year-old Satish Bhati, a habitual offender with a lengthy rap sheet, opened fire on the officers to evade capture. Displaying remarkable restraint and precision, the police returned fire in self-defense, neutralizing the threat without any injuries to their ranks. Bhati was swiftly apprehended, marking a significant win for public safety in the capital.

Recovered from his possession were six stolen mobile phones, a motorcycle used in the crimes, and a sophisticated pistol—clear evidence of his armed escapades. Investigations reveal that just two days prior, on January 22, Bhati and an accomplice had pulled off four brazen snatchings in quick succession across Kalkaji, Amar Colony, Okhla Industrial Area, and Pul Prahladpur areas.

These incidents terrorized innocent commuters, with victims losing their valuables to the duo’s ruthless tactics. Police are now matching the recovered phones against ongoing cases at local stations, while teams scour the city for Bhati’s fugitive partner. Bhati’s criminal history is under intense scrutiny, promising further revelations as the probe deepens.

This encounter underscores Delhi Police’s unwavering commitment to curbing rising snatching incidents. With weapons off the streets and a key player behind bars, residents can breathe a little easier, but authorities warn that vigilance remains key in tackling such gangs.
