New Delhi’s law enforcement has struck a significant blow against crime in the Sarojini Nagar area. Southwest district police arrested three notorious robbers, recovering a stolen motorcycle, Rs 28,150 in cash, stolen jewelry, and the knife used in their heists. This operation has cracked open five pending criminal cases, bringing relief to multiple neighborhoods.

The suspects are Sher Singh from Dwarkapuri, Sudama Nagar, Indore, Madhya Pradesh; Harmendra from Kacchi Basti, Badwas, Udaipur, Rajasthan; and Manjeet, 39, also from Kacchi Basti, Bedwas, Post Office Debari, Udaipur. Their capture followed a swift response to a PCR call on January 26 morning around 8:14 AM, reporting an attempted robbery with a knife near Anant Ram Dairy in Sector-13, RK Puram.

Inspector Atul Tyagi, SHO of Sarojini Nagar, assembled a crack team including SI Deepak Loyal, Head Constables Pankaj, Amarjeet, Pushpendra, Raghuvir, Ajit, Manipal, and Constables Bharat Solanki and Mahesh. Under the supervision of ACP Safdarjung Enclave, the team scoured the area, gathered intelligence, scrutinized over 100 CCTV footages, and zeroed in on the trio.

Interrogations revealed a gritty tale of addiction and desperation. Manjeet, a locksmith by trade from Udaipur, frequently visited Delhi for Gurudwara prayers. On January 24, he arrived with brother-in-law Sher Singh and accomplice Harmendra, staying at Gurudwara Bangla Sahib and Chandni Chowk Gurudwara. Crippled by drug habits costing Rs 7,000-8,000 daily, they stole a motorcycle from Shakarpur and jewelry from a Laxmi Nagar home to fund their vice.

Their spree peaked on Republic Day morning. Around 5 AM, they targeted a woman near Ambedkar Park in South Campus, brandishing a knife, but fled when she screamed. Next, at ARD Complex, they accosted a biker—Harmendra threatened with the knife, Manjeet rifled pockets, Sher Singh snatched keys—but the victim’s helmet swing sent them scampering. Heavy police presence that day deterred further attempts, but they were plotting anew in Netaji Nagar and Sarojini Nagar when police pounced.

Sher Singh has three prior cases, Manjeet six, and Harmendra two. The breakthroughs span Sarojini Nagar, South Campus, Laxmi Nagar, and Shakarpur stations. This arrest underscores Delhi Police’s relentless pursuit, restoring faith in urban safety amid festive chaos.
