In a proactive move to ensure a secure Republic Day celebration, Delhi Police has kicked off an extensive public awareness campaign across the national capital. With just days remaining before the grand January 26 festivities at Rajpath, security forces are leaving no stone unturned to engage citizens in vigilance efforts.

The initiative, which began early this week, focuses on educating residents about potential threats and the importance of reporting suspicious activities. Police teams are conducting street corner meetings, distributing pamphlets, and using loudspeakers in high-traffic areas like markets, bus stops, and residential colonies. ‘Your eyes and ears are our best defense,’ emphasized a senior officer during one such event in Connaught Place.

Key messages revolve around identifying abandoned bags, unusual behavior, and drone sightings, given recent global security concerns. Special attention is being paid to migrant worker clusters and tourist hotspots, where language barriers are bridged through multilingual volunteers.

This isn’t the first time Delhi Police has adopted such community-centric strategies. Last year, similar drives helped thwart potential disruptions, leading to commendations from national leadership. As the city braces for an influx of dignitaries and visitors, over 5,000 personnel are already on high alert, with more reinforcements expected.

Community response has been overwhelmingly positive, with residents pledging active cooperation. Schools and colleges are also involved, with mock drills scheduled to instill safety habits among the youth. As Republic Day approaches, this collaborative spirit underscores Delhi’s resolve to celebrate democracy in peace and unity.
