In a significant breakthrough, Delhi Police have apprehended Rohit Solanki, the primary accused in the brazen shooting targeting the legal team of notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. The incident unfolded last Tuesday near the Marghat Baba Temple in Kashmiri Gate, North Delhi, leaving one individual injured and sparking widespread concerns over the safety of lawyers handling high-stakes organized crime cases.

The attack occurred late on February 24 as lawyer Deepak Khatri was returning home with his team in a car. Assailants linked to Rajasthan-based gangster Rohit Godara ambushed the vehicle, firing multiple rounds. CCTV footage and eyewitness accounts reveal three bike-borne attackers unleashing six shots from behind. Among the five occupants, including Khatri, a young man named Sandeep sustained two bullet wounds and is currently receiving treatment at Ganga Ram Hospital. Khatri narrowly escaped unharmed.

Following the assault, the perpetrators fled on their motorcycle. Reports indicate Godara has since been issuing threats to Khatri and his family via calls from abroad, prompting urgent demands for enhanced security. However, no such measures have been implemented yet.

North Delhi Deputy Commissioner of Police Raja Banthia stated that the investigation leverages CCTV evidence and informant tips. Notably, on February 25, Godara along with associates Naveen Buxar, Rahul Fatehpur, and Sunny Yama claimed responsibility through a social media post, alleging the hit was retaliation for Khatri’s purported cooperation with police.

Solanki’s arrest marks a major win for law enforcement, with probes now extending to potential links between Delhi and Rajasthan gangs. Legal experts are sounding alarms over escalating threats to attorneys in gang-related trials, urging immediate bolstering of protective protocols.

In related news, South East Delhi Police’s Operation Aaghat resulted in 200 criminals nabbed, alongside the seizure of 10 weapons and over 10,000 liquor bottles, underscoring a broader crackdown on underworld elements.
