In a major boost for Delhi residents aspiring to own homes, the Delhi government has inaugurated a new branch of the Delhi Co-operative Housing Finance Corporation Limited (DCHFC) in Rohini Sector-16. Social Welfare and Cooperation Minister Ravindra Indraj Singh officiated the launch on January 24, marking a significant step towards providing affordable, transparent, and hassle-free housing loans.
This second branch in Delhi, after the one at Siri Fort, will directly benefit citizens in northwest Delhi and surrounding areas. The event saw the presence of senior departmental officials, MCD councillor Yogesh Rana from Alipur, and a large gathering of local residents.
Addressing the audience, Minister Singh highlighted how previous governments neglected the cooperative sector. Under the current administration, the focus is squarely on delivering low-interest housing finance to middle-class families, low-income groups, and cooperative housing societies. ‘Realizing the dream of homeownership through cooperatives is our top priority,’ he emphasized.
The minister directed officials to devise a phased plan for opening more DCHFC branches across suitable locations in Delhi. He stressed enhancing public outreach and promotional campaigns to ensure maximum reach. Technological upgrades will streamline loan approvals, making the process faster, simpler, and fully transparent.
Singh congratulated the team on the new branch, noting DCHFC’s long-standing role in housing finance that remained under the radar for many. With assets nearing Rs 1,600 crore, the corporation is poised to empower lakhs of Delhiites. At an attractive 7.30% interest rate—one of the lowest in the country—this facility promises widespread benefits.
Rohini, a burgeoning housing hub, stands to gain immensely, with rapid development expected in coming years. The government plans comprehensive advertising to spread awareness, alongside direct outreach to RWAs, dealers, and housing societies using available cooperative sector data.
Looking ahead, more branches will dot east, west, north, and south Delhi, strengthening the cooperative economy. ‘No RWA or housing sector table should miss information about this bank,’ Singh asserted, underscoring the commitment to elevate DCHFC as Delhi’s premier cooperative financial institution.
