The Delhi police have arrested Chaitanyananda Saraswati, the self-proclaimed godman and director of the Sri Sharda Institute of Indian Management, in connection with allegations of sexually exploiting young female students. Saraswati, 52, was apprehended in Agra after hiding for two months. The investigation has uncovered disturbing WhatsApp chats, including one where he purportedly sought a ‘sex partner’ for a ‘Dubai Sheikh.’ This revelation came during a conversation with an alleged student. The messages also show Saraswati using childish and patronizing names and sending relentless messages. Upon his arrest, an iPad and three mobile phones were seized, one of which provided remote access to the institute’s CCTV cameras and hostel. Saraswati, accused of harassing at least 17 female students, is now in police custody. The police are likely to question three female staff members from the institute, who are believed to have assisted him in intimidating students and deleting incriminating messages.
