In a significant development in the Delhi blast investigation, the Patiala House Court has granted the National Investigation Agency (NIA) an additional 45 days to complete its probe into the car bomb explosion near Lal Quila Metro Station. The ruling comes as a major relief for the federal agency, which had sought a 90-day extension citing the case’s complexity.

The blast, which claimed 15 lives and injured over 30 others, occurred on November 10 when suicide bomber Umar-un-Nabi drove a Hyundai i20 packed with explosives into the crowded area. NIA investigations reveal this was part of a larger terrorist conspiracy linked to networks resembling Jaish-e-Mohammed, involving doctors from Al Falah University in Faridabad.

Court proceedings saw accused Shoaib produced physically, while six others appeared via video conferencing. Their judicial custody has been extended until March 13. The NIA emphasized the need for more time to delve into forensic evidence, technical analysis, and detailed interrogations to uncover the full network behind the attack.

Key arrests include Dr. Muzammil Shakeel Gani, Dr. Shehn Syeed, Mufti Irfan, and others. Investigators are tracing weapon procurement, planning stages, and potential foreign handlers. Central and state agencies are collaborating to dismantle this module, with expectations of further revelations as the probe deepens.

This extension underscores the intricate nature of counter-terrorism efforts in urban India, where hidden cells pose ongoing threats. The public awaits justice as NIA pieces together the puzzle of this deadly plot.
