The Severe Cyclonic Storm “Shakthi” over the northwest Arabian Sea has advanced west-southwest at a speed of 15 kmph during the last six hours. The IMD’s recent update indicates a movement of 17 kmph in the past six hours. The cyclone is projected to maintain its west-southwest track, reaching the northwest and adjacent west-central Arabian Sea by the evening of Sunday, October 5th. The cyclone will bring heavy rainfall to the East Vidarbha and Marathwada regions. A heavy rain warning has been issued for Mumbai and certain regions of Gujarat. Scattered light rain is anticipated in Mumbai until October 8th, 2025. Wind speeds during the cyclone could reach 45–55 km/h, with gusts up to 65 km/h, particularly along the North Maharashtra coast until Sunday, October 5th. The storm is expected to approach the Maharashtra and Gujarat coasts by October 6th. Residents are encouraged to monitor weather updates. The Regional Meteorological Center, Mumbai, has reported that thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, light to moderate rain, and gusty winds of 30-40 kmph are likely in isolated areas of South-Konkan-Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, and Marathwada. Coastal district collectors in Saurashtra have returned to their districts. Sunday leaves for Collectorate staff have been canceled as authorities monitor the cyclone. The cyclone is expected to stay at sea. Starting October 6th, Cyclone Shakthi is anticipated to change direction, moving eastward and gradually weakening.
