Following a period of unrest, Cuttack in Odisha is under a strict 36-hour curfew, coupled with a city-wide internet ban. These actions follow violent incidents, including clashes that occurred during the Durga idol immersion. Law enforcement clashed with a group denied permission for a bike rally, causing injuries to eight police officers. The initial clashes occurred late Friday near the Dargha Bazaar, allegedly after objections were raised regarding loud music played during the idol immersion procession. The situation quickly escalated, with individuals throwing stones and glass bottles, leading to numerous injuries, including the Cuttack Deputy Commissioner of Police.
