A major law enforcement operation resulted in the arrest of Mainpal Dhilla, a notorious figure, after his extradition from Cambodia. The Haryana Police had sought his capture. This operation was a coordinated effort involving the CBI, state police, and several Union ministries. Mainpal Dhilla, also known as Maipal Badli and a resident of Badli village in Jhajjar, is linked to 22 criminal cases, including murder. He was serving a life sentence in three cases from 2007 and 2010. Dhilla was released on a six-week parole from Hisar Central Jail on July 17, 2018. He was due back by August 29, 2018, but he did not return and fled. Following a request from Haryana Police, the CBI initiated a Red Notice through INTERPOL for Mainpal Dhilla on November 6, 2024. The CBI then contacted NCB Bangkok to track his movements, which revealed his travel from Thailand to Cambodia. The CBI subsequently coordinated with Cambodian authorities. These authorities confirmed that the subject had travelled to Cambodia using a fake passport under a false name. A request for provisional arrest was sent to NCB-Phnom Penh, Cambodia, through INTERPOL on March 26, 2025. NCB-Phnom Penh notified of the arrest on July 24, 2025 and requested an extradition request through diplomatic channels. Cambodian authorities decided to extradite the subject. A team from the Haryana Police recovered Mainpal Dhilla on September 2, 2025. INTERPOL Red Notices are circulated to law enforcement worldwide for wanted criminals. The CBI in India, through BHARATPOL, works with all Indian Law Enforcement Agencies via INTERPOL channels. Over a hundred wanted criminals have been returned to India using this system.
