IPS officer Anjana Krishna’s situation has become complicated following a dispute with Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister, Ajit Pawar. Amol Mitkari, an NCP leader, has demanded that the UPSC investigate Anjana Krishna’s documents. Mitkari’s demand was formalized in a letter to the UPSC Secretary. This request follows a viral video controversy related to Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. The core issue revolves around the unlawful extraction of soil in the Madha region of Solapur. The viral video is believed to show a phone call where Ajit Pawar requests Anjana Krishna to halt illegal mining; however, Krishna seemingly refuses to acknowledge Pawar, and the call concludes. The video has been widely circulated on social media and generated significant debate. Mitkari’s letter to the UPSC Secretary specifically requests a review of Anjana Krishna’s academic credentials, caste certification, and all associated paperwork. His letter expressed concerns about the veracity of the officer’s documentation and calls for the commission to conduct a thorough investigation to validate the information. The incident originated when Anjana Krishna and her team arrived at the scene of illegal mining. NCP leader Baba Jagtap Singh then contacted Deputy CM Ajit Pawar, requesting he speak with Anjana Krishna. Krishna purportedly refused to recognize Pawar, asking for a call from his official number. Following this, the call was disconnected, and the video quickly went viral. Anjana Krishna, a resident of Thiruvananthapuram, secured the 355th rank in the 2023 UPSC exam and currently serves as DSP in Karmala, Solapur. Her father operates a small-scale cloth business, and her mother works as a typist in the court. She is considered to be a bold and decisive IPS officer.
