Shillong, Meghalaya – As the countdown begins for the upcoming local body elections in Meghalaya, the Congress party is grappling with an overwhelming number of aspirants vying for party tickets. State Congress President Vincent H. Pala revealed that several hopefuls have approached the party leadership, signaling strong internal enthusiasm ahead of the polls. The civic elections, scheduled for key urban local bodies including Shillong Municipal Board, are shaping up to be a fiercely contested battleground. Pala, addressing party workers during a recent strategy meeting, highlighted the surge in applications from potential candidates across various wards. ‘We have received applications from dedicated workers who are keen to serve their communities under the Congress banner,’ he stated, emphasizing the party’s grassroots strength.
