New Delhi buzzed with controversy as Congress MP Imran Masood expressed profound grief over the reported death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in a US-Israel strike. Masood didn’t hold back, hailing Khamenei as a brave leader who sacrificed his life for his nation, drawing parallels to historical figures etched in memory for their courage.

‘History remembers the brave, and Khamenei will be remembered as one,’ Masood declared, his voice heavy with emotion. He lambasted US President Donald Trump, calling him a ‘ruthless madman’ whose actions are setting the world ablaze. Masood revealed Khamenei’s admiration for Mahatma Gandhi, noting how the Iranian leader often invoked Gandhi’s non-violent triumph over British colonial rule as inspiration to repel adversaries.

In a poignant appeal to the public, the MP urged restraint amid the mourning. ‘We are heartbroken; let’s not disrupt peace in our country,’ he said, emphasizing that no sorrow can fill the void left by Khamenei.

The sentiments echoed across Congress ranks. Uttar Pradesh Congress chief Ajay Rai saluted Khamenei as a fearless warrior who fought till the end without surrendering. ‘I salute him for his bravery against US-Israel atrocities,’ Rai added, calling the events deeply tragic.

Lok Sabha MP Pappu Yadav from Purnia voiced concerns over America’s growing belligerence, lamenting India’s silence on its traditional ally Iran. ‘India is losing its natural friends post-independence,’ he warned.

BJP leader Udit Raj, despite party lines, stressed the need for dialogue over war. ‘Global tensions are alarming; international community must intervene seriously for peace,’ he concluded. The reactions highlight deepening geopolitical divides and India’s delicate foreign policy stance.
