New Delhi buzzed with political activity on Tuesday as the Congress party’s top brass convened a crucial meeting with Uttarakhand leaders. Chaired by party president Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, the session focused sharply on electoral preparations for the upcoming assembly polls.

AICC General Secretary (Organization) KC Venugopal, Uttarakhand in-charge Kumari Selja, and a host of state heavyweights including Pradesh Congress President Ganesh Godiyal, former Chief Minister Harish Rawat, Leader of Opposition Yashpal Arya, and others attended the deliberations. The agenda covered pressing state issues, organizational strengthening, and a blueprint for electoral success.

Venugopal shared insights on X, highlighting the leadership of Kharge and Gandhi in this series of state review meetings. Selja echoed the sentiment, underscoring the importance of uniting senior leaders for Uttarakhand’s future.

Discussions delved into the state’s political landscape, public grievances, and ecological development priorities. Congress emphasized its commitment to sustainable growth amid Uttarakhand’s unique Himalayan challenges. The high command sought detailed feedback to refine strategies that resonate with voters.

This meeting gains extra significance as Uttarakhand gears up for assembly elections. Party insiders see it as a pivotal step to revitalize the organization, counter rivals, and reclaim ground lost in recent polls.

In a related development, Kharge lambasted the central government over Republic Day arrangements, accusing it of insulting the Constitution, Congress, and opposition by seating Rahul Gandhi in the third row. He demanded accountability, signaling ongoing tensions between the ruling dispensation and the main opposition.

As Congress intensifies its groundwork across states, this Uttarakhand huddle sets the tone for a fierce electoral battle ahead.
