Congress chief from Phagwara booked for spreading manipulated voice message

PHAGWARA: The Punjab Police has registered a case in opposition to Phagwara district Congress appearing president Daljit Raju and his affiliate for allegedly twisting a voice message of a Mahila Congress chief and spreading it on social media.

Daljit Raju and his affiliate Manjot Singh have been booked beneath related sections of the IPC and the IT Act within the early hours of Sunday, police resources mentioned.

The case used to be registered following a dharna through activists of the Mahila Congress and celebration staff belonging to a faction headed through Balwinder Singh Dhaliwal, the sitting MLA and the celebration candidate from Phagwara for the February 20 meeting election.

The protesters alleged that the duo had twisted the voice message of a Mahila Congress chief and made it viral on social media to defame them.

Mahila Congress normal secretary Meenakshi Verma lodged a criticism with the police in opposition to Raju and his affiliate on Saturday.

Raju is a detailed affiliate of former Punjab minister Joginder Singh Mann and has adverse Dhaliwal’s renomination from Phagwara through retaining conferences of the rival faction.

Mann had lately left the Congress and joined the AAP.

Daljit Raju and Manjot Singh denied the allegation.

They, in conjunction with any other Congress leaders, met Superintendent of Police Harinderpal Singh on Sunday and submitted a memorandum alleging that Raju and his affiliate have been implicated in a false case on the behest of his political competitors.

They threatened to degree a protest if the case in opposition to the 2 used to be no longer withdrawn.
