Three individuals have been taken into custody for their alleged involvement in the abduction and gang rape of a college student near the Coimbatore International Airport. The harrowing incident unfolded on Sunday night when the victim and her friend were reportedly targeted by the accused.

Reports indicate that the attackers forcibly removed the student from a parked car after assaulting her friend. The victim was later found in a vulnerable and deeply distressed condition in an empty field close to the airport and was subsequently hospitalized. The swift action by Coimbatore City Police led to the arrest of the three prime suspects.

In a dramatic turn of events, the accused, named Guna, Karuppasamy, and Karthik (also known as Kaleeswaran), were shot in the leg by law enforcement officers while they were attempting to flee authorities in Vellakinaru. A head constable also suffered injuries during the pursuit. The injured individuals are currently undergoing medical treatment at a Coimbatore hospital. Police are continuing their comprehensive investigation into this grave offense.
