Disaster has struck Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district after a cloudburst hit Dewal. Authorities report two individuals are missing, and a number of animals have been buried. Chamoli District Magistrate Sandeep Tiwari confirmed the closure of roads due to the intense rainfall, and the deployment of relief teams to address the crisis.

Warnings for heavy rainfall have been issued for areas, including Rudraprayag and Kedarnath. The state government has taken preemptive measures by closing schools in numerous districts. The motorway leading to Kedarnath has been closed, attributed to the damage to a bridge.

Uttarakhand’s Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, announced on social media about the concerning reports of families trapped due to debris flows from cloudbursts in the Bareth Dungar Tok area of Rudraprayag and the Deval area of Chamoli. He assured the public that relief and rescue operations are in progress and are being managed by the local administration. The Chief Minister is in continuous communication with officials, issuing necessary instructions to ensure effective rescue efforts. He has also conveyed prayers for the safety of those affected.
