A cloudburst in Dehradun’s Karligarh Sahastradhara area on Monday night caused significant damage and disruption. Flash floods, a consequence of heavy and persistent rainfall, resulted in substantial harm to homes, shops, and hotels. The cloudburst’s effects were evident even near the IT Park, leading to an increase in the water level of the Song River. In response, the local authorities declared a holiday for all schools (classes 1-12) on September 16. The India Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for Dehradun, predicting intense rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds. Rivers including Tamsa, Chandrabhaga, and Sahastradhara were flooded. The Tapkeshwar Mahadev Shivalinga complex suffered considerable damage, with videos showing substantial debris accumulation. The bridge located near Fun Valley and Uttarakhand Dental College on the Dehradun–Haridwar National Highway was also severely damaged due to the heavy downpour.
