CJP accuses Rajasthan police of harassing students after NEET leak protest

Jaipur, July 28 — The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has lodged a formal complaint against the Rajasthan police, alleging that law‑enforcement officials continue to harass students who took part in the anti‑NEET paper‑leak demonstrations. The party says that despite a written agreement on July 25 to withdraw all cases against the protestors, police officers have repeatedly visited the homes of participating students and have been making intimidation calls.

In a video statement, CJP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka warned that the core team members of the organization are being singled out. “The police are going round‑the‑clock to our members’ houses and using phone calls to put pressure on them,” Ranka said, urging the central government to make the July 25 agreement public.

Ranka also appealed to both the centre and the Rajasthan state government to respect the pact that was reached on July 25 concerning the withdrawal of cases. He cited precedents from other states, pointing out that Bihar has already withdrawn all pending cases against students, and West Bengal has dismissed every FIR linked to the protests.

CJP cautioned that if the alleged intimidation does not cease, the party will be forced to organize another wave of protests. The NEET paper‑leak demonstrations saw participation from students across India, with many traveling to Delhi’s Jantar Mantar and others staging sit‑ins in Jaipur and other cities.

The Rajasthan police have not issued any official response to the accusations so far.
