Patna, February 8: Union Minister Chirag Paswan sharply criticized the opposition’s protests against the arrest of Purnea MP Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav, accusing them of pure political opportunism.
Speaking to reporters in Patna, Paswan pointed out the irony. ‘This is the same Pappu Yadav whom the so-called INDIA alliance wanted to defeat during the Lok Sabha elections,’ he said. ‘RJD and Tejashwi Yadav even urged voters to back NDA if needed to ensure his loss. Now, suddenly, they’re feigning concern for their own political gain. Everyone knows the opposition’s words and actions don’t match.’
Paswan dismissed Tejashwi Yadav’s statements, urging leaders to reflect on their own record before pointing fingers. ‘If you’re so worried, take responsibility as an opposition leader. Instead of dodging Parliament or fleeing abroad during sessions, address real issues,’ he added.
On the tragic death of a NEET aspirant, Paswan acknowledged public outrage but highlighted government action. ‘The government is committed to justice. From forming SITs to ordering CBI probes, every step ensures culprits face the harshest punishment to prevent future incidents.’
Paswan’s remarks underscore deepening political divides in Bihar, where alliances shift dramatically based on electoral fortunes. As investigations continue, the opposition’s strategy faces scrutiny for lacking substance.
