The Gariyaband district administration has closed the Chingrapgar and Gajpalla waterfalls to the public following the drowning death of a young woman from Raipur. The victim, Mehvish Khan, was with friends when she reportedly fell into the water. The incident occurred on Monday afternoon, leading to an extensive search and rescue operation. The SDRF team utilized waterproof cameras to locate the body, which was found approximately 20 feet deep, trapped in a narrow passage between rocks. More than 60 individuals from the Forest Department, police, SDRF, and local divers participated in the rescue efforts. Forest officials have placed a ban on entry to the waterfalls and deployed guards at all entrances to prevent access until further notice.
