Raipur, August 11, 2025/ Governor Shri Ramen Deka has urged the youth to use digital technology for innovation and creativity but avoid dependence on it. Addressing a one-day workshop on digital mental health organized at Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University Raipur on Monday, he said that after Covid-19, digital media has made education, work and relationships easier but it has also increased problems like stress, anxiety and depression. Mental health can be strengthened only by adopting yoga, meditation and a balanced life.
In the workshop, Vice Chancellors of various universities, principals of colleges, teachers, research scholars, intellectuals associated with social organizations and a large number of students were present. The participants discussed the ways to maintain mental health in the digital age.
Governor Shri Deka said in the workshop that there has been a big change in our lifestyle in the 21st century, but the nature of nature is still the same. The sun rises in the east and sets in the west. The earth still gives us life by wearing a green sheet, but changes have taken place in our civilization and daily routine. Lack of sustainable development and changing environment has affected mental health.
The Governor said that the increasing trend of single families and the lack of communication between family members has also weakened mental health. Today, most people are busy with mobile phones and the internet and mutual communication and emotional connection are decreasing.
Shri Deka told the students that to avoid mental pressure, they should choose their career according to their ability and avoid unnecessary competition. Stay away from overthinking and doubt and enjoy life. Do not hesitate to seek psychological counseling and choose the right path for yourself by listening to the voice of your conscience. He said that prayer, yoga, meditation, pranayama and sattvic lifestyle have been the basic foundations of mental and physical health in Indian tradition, if they are included in the daily routine, many challenges of life can be solved automatically.
Dr. Amaresh Srivastava, the founder of the renowned psychologist and Mental Power Foundation, Mumbai, presented his views as the keynote speaker in the workshop. He said that mental health is not only a matter of individual health but also a symbol of the consciousness and mental power of the society. He considered the increasing mental stress among the students as a serious problem and stressed on research and in-depth study in this direction.
The welcome speech in the workshop was given by the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Shri Sachchidanand Shukla. Highlighting the objectives of the workshop, he said that this workshop was organized on the initiative of Governor Shri Ramen Deka and an in-depth discussion on health in the digital age is the need of the hour. The vote of thanks was given by Professor Shri Amber Vyas.
On this occasion, the Governor felicitated MCA student Shri Shivkumar Mohobia and research student Shri Arun Kumar Patel for outstanding innovation.
