Since the month of February, under the direction of DGP Ashok Juneja, a campaign against illegal drugs is being carried out under the guidance of IG Raipur Amresh Mishra and Senior Superintendent of Police Raipur Santosh Singh. In the swift action in NDPS and Excise, 1,754 persons were arrested in a total of 1,736 cases, in which 370 accused went to jail in non-bailable cases. 3,001 liters of liquor, 410 kg of ganja along with opium, intoxicating tablets and syrups etc. have been seized.

Under the Anti-Tobacco COTPA Act, challan was issued against 628 persons and 501 persons who put everyone’s life at risk by consuming intoxicants and driving. In which every person is charged a fine of Rs 10,000 by the Honorable Court.

As a result of continuous police patrolling, preventive actions and anti-drug actions, less crimes took place this Holi compared to previous years. Last year, 18 stabbings (12 cases on Holika and 6 cases on Holi) and two murders took place in Raipur district. A total of 84 FIRs of assault were registered in two days. This year, on the day of Holika, there was a knife murder in which the accused was immediately arrested, another stabbing and three stabbing incidents took place on the day of Holi. 45 incidents of assault have been registered in these two days.
