All works assigned to him have been cancelled by the Public Works Department.
Raipur, January 7, 2025. The Public Works Department has suspended the registration of Suresh Chandrakar, a contractor from Bijapur, with immediate effect and cancelled all works assigned to him. The suspension of Suresh Chandrakar’s registration was ordered by the Chief Engineer’s office based on a recommendation from the Divisional Chief Engineer, Bastar Division, Jagdalpur. The Chief Engineer recommended the suspension citing news reports and his arrest as the main accused in the murder of journalist Mukesh Chandrakar, a registered “A” class contractor with the Public Works Department in Bijapur.
Considering the Chief Engineer’s recommendation, the department has suspended Suresh Chandrakar’s registration with immediate effect. Furthermore, all road construction works assigned to Suresh Chandrakar have been cancelled due to prolonged delays and slow progress.
